Hi, does anyone have advice on the performance differences of JDBC OCI drivers vs. thin drivers. We are running an Apache/JRun and a 8.1.5 on 2 Suns in a cluster environment. Do you think we can gain performance if we install Net8 on the machines and switch from thin to OCI?
TIA

Hi,

According to Oracle the OCI driver is the fastest. However, in my experience the thin driver beats it ever single time. Maybe you should test both and let us know your results.

Cheers

i didn't slide by this site too often lately, that's why my reply may be late, but:
frank seems to be absolutely right.
i tested oci vs. thin in the 8.1.6 versions for NT, JDK 1.2.2, and the thin driver was (marginally) faster all the time.
(PS: the setExecuteBatch method did the trick)
