My requirement is to migrate Oracle7.3.4 database to Oracle 8.1.6 database. If I will export the data from Oracle7.3.4 and import the dmp to Oracle 8.1.6, will it work properly in Oracle 8.1.6 ? Please do guide me to migrate the oracle 7.3.4 database to Oracle 8.1.6 (64bit). Expecting early solution please...

Hi Biraja,
There are three ways you can migrate from 7.3.4 to 8.1.6
they are
1.exp/imp
2.migration utility
3.migration assistant.
The second and third methods can be used only when migration takes place in the same platform(os)........
Out of these three i prefer migration utility, which is faster, easier and highly recoverable.
If your database is not very big then export and import may be a good solution and if you doing crossplatform thats the only way you can go with...
