Hi All,

I've some problems with parameter DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST.
I'm trying to use this parameter in my RAC DB because I want to be sure that my 2 nodes can access the same archived logs. In case of recovery, this will be a advantage.
But the system does not seem to take into account the values defined in LOG_ARHIVE_FORMAT, DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST. Indeed, it seems rather use the OMF file system.
The location is flawed because instead of putting the archivelogs to the base directory M:\, it creates a tree :
M:\global_instance_name\ARCHIVELOG\date

And this case, I think each cannot access to the archivelogs from other node.

Someone can help me please.

You can not set the format of an OMF file. The directory tree that is being created and the OMF filename convention is the default functionality of the FRA.

If you want to specify the format of the archivelogs and/or directory, then specify the LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_n parameter.

Thank you for your response.

So is it possible to use in same time these parameters ?

1) DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST
2) LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_N

Don't forget that I want only to make available archivelogs from each node to all nodes.

Regards

It is possible to use them at the same time, however to avoid FRA OMF/directory formatting, you'll have to configure one LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_n parameter to NOT use DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST as it's location.

What happened when you tried to do so?

It seems that only archive_log_dest_n is used not db_recovery_file_dest.
Please how to check that all the parameters are used ?
