Does Oracle Forms/Reports 4.5 supported on database 10g? We have legacy application in Forms4.5 we are planning to migrate backend from 9i to 10g.

No.

Forms and Reports 4.5 will have been out of support before 10g was even at the planning stage.

I don't believe it's supported against 9i either.

We had clients migrating to 10g where a 4.5 and 6i application had to be adjusted because they used an algorithm including rowid. You may want to analyse your application regarding this usage. Feel free to reach out to us for more details in compatibility issues and a potential upgrade/migration (www.pitssamerica.com).

I guess you had to modify 4.5 and 6i forms to run on a 10g database. However, I don't quite understand what ROWID has to do with it; ROWID exists in all Oracle database versions I saw (that would be 7.1 to 10g) so - if it isn't much to ask, could you tell what changed with ROWID?

I understand that its format changed (from 8 to 10 bytes, since Oracle 8i) - was that the case?

Though, knowing that ROWID can be changed due to certain actions (such as export and import of the same table), I guess you didn't rely on that piece of information. Did you?

Yes - it was the change of the Row-ID datatype.

Not sure why you try to avoid the upgrade to a supported version. We have done these kind of upgrades in 3-4 days.

What made you think that I'm avoiding anything? I was just discussing your message, nothing else.

Hi,
I don`t know about Report, but for us we still have some Forms 4.5 in character mode running on VMS server and our DB is 10g and everything work perfectly.
I think the change was really minor because i don`t remember having problem during the migration. I think the biggest problem was dealing with long datatype.
