Open canvas' property palette. Click on the Background Color property. Click the "Inherit" button in the property palette toolbar.

Is this canvas subclassed?

Forms Online Help System

Inherit

Sets the current property to its default setting. If the property is based on a property class, the default setting is the setting defined in the class. If the current property list is not based on a property class, or is based on a class that does not include the current property, Inherit sets the property to the default value.
