oracle 9i logical standby [message #545221]

Junior Member

There are two servers.
one in HP-UNIX and another is solaris.

I would like to configure a logical standby using oracle 9i...Is it possible in 9i?

And yes, Logical Standby was introduced in release 9.2. There were some restrictions.

[update: I just re-read your post, and NO, you can't use Logical standby between HPUX and Solaris.]

So, it is not possible to configure heterogeneous logical standby in oracle 9i..right???

But in 10g onwards it is possible... no?

Thanks a lot!!

platform_id and platform_name are absent in v$database in oracle 9i..hence not possible..and they have mentioned for 10g onwards....Thank you very much.

Do you think golden gate is a possible solution in this case?

Yes but I think Oracle no more supports such configuration (too old).

But you may go for Sybase replication server, I think Sybase still supports it.

I would look at using Streams or Advanced Replication. The Oracle sales droids will tell you that these are ancient history and don't work, but that is because they are free.

And as Michel sugegsts, you really should upgrade. No-ine is going to help you with 9i.
