Hi,

Backup for database DR0001C is failing with below errors.Could you suggest how to fix it ?

RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
RMAN-00569: =============== ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS ===============
RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
RMAN-00554: initialization of internal recovery manager package failed
RMAN-04005: error from target database:
ORA-27140: attach to post/wait facility failed
ORA-27300: OS system dependent operation:invalid_egid failed with status: 1
ORA-27301: OS failure message: Operation not permitted
ORA-27302: failure occurred at: skgpwinit6
ORA-27303: additional information: startup egid = 502 (oinstall), current egid =
503 (dba)

 *Cause:  OS system call error
 *Action: contact Oracle Support

And the OS error is: Operation not permitted

Of course, knowing the message is not sufficient to know what is wrong as we don't know what you did.
YOU SHOULD NOW KNOW THIS AFTER SO MANY YEARS AND SO MANY QUESTIONS.

Yes this seems to be a os problem.Could you confirm ?

Backup team received this error when they triggered backup from their end and
since error was related to oracle they asked to look into it.

As I don't know what you did I can't.

It looks like Arch database failure.A scheduled job which trigger to run the job and found this backup failure in the logs.

You can't do anything with "it looks like".

If you have not yet found the problem/solution I would suggest the following steps:

1) Check to see when backup last executed correctly.
2) Using the "CORRECT" execution date/time and "BAD" execution date/time start asking around to see if there has been any system maintenance and what it involved. Use this to investigate possible changes that might be to blame for the problem.
3) If you have a system where "GOOD" backups are happening that is similar configured as the "BAD" backup system do a comparison between directory permissions.
4) If all else fails open a SR with Oracle.
