I have tried several times to setup the Oracle 8 Enterprise Edition on Window 2000 Server but everytime i faced the same problem. When i checked the "service" in administrator tool, i found that OracleServiceORCL service was not start automatically, so when i tried to start it, such error message will be displayed.
"Could not start the OracleServiceORCL service on Local Computer.
Error 997: Overlapped I/O operation is in progress."
Actually, i don't know what should i do. Can anyone help me?
Thanks.

I got rid of this problem just (in 7-8 minutes) by deleting the old repository and creating a new repository using OEM Console Assistant.

This process might be related to solution mentioned at http://navel.ucr.edu/database/howto/data/TROUBLESHOOT_ERROR_997_OEM_ERRORS.TXT
