I will export data from Oracle 8i that runs on WinNT server. Can I import that data from Oracle 8.1.7 personal edition that runs under WinNT? And vice versa, can Oracle 8i (runs on NT server) import the data that was exported by personal edition 8.1.7 that runs on WinNT?
What about different Windows operating systems? For example, if the personal edition was installed on Win98, would export - import utilities be successfull?
Thanks

Yes you can import/export from any db to another as long as the character sets match and you don't go "down" in version. Going "up" in version seems to be ok.

I have taken a Sun/Unix 8.1.6 to NT/2000 Personal 8.1.7 without flaw. I have also taken NT server to WIN98 without flaw.
