Hi,
I've been installing Oracle 8.1.7 on solaris for a while. As I've tried this more than once, everytime when I launch the Universal installer, it somehow gets the information that I've already tried an installation before from some location. I cleared out the /opt/var/oracle directory completely. /u01, /u02 mountpoints are all cleared. However now the installer does always remember the previous installation info and I'm having some new troubles installing. Also it does not prompt me for those 2 scripts which I should be running using the root login. How do I clear out all info about previous installations? How do I make the installer to prompt me for those scripts which I should run as 'root'? Help!.

Thx
Paul

On solaris the file is in /var/opt/oracle and is called oraInst.loc.
