Hi,
I am a newbie.. I have installed oracle 7.2 in WinNT 4.0 server. I am not able to start the Oracle listener. Appreciate if anyone could help me to configure. I am on a MS loopback adapter.

when i start lsnrctl i get

Attempted to listen on: (DESCRIPTION=(CONNECT_TIMEOUT=10)(ADDRESS=(COMMUNITY=TCP
.world)(PROTOCOL=TCP)(Host=172.16.1.1)(Port=1526)))
TNS-12532: TNS:invalid argument
TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
TNS-00502: Invalid argument
32-bit Windows Error: 22: Invalid argument

I have configured listener.ora as

LISTENER =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS=
(COMMUNITY= TCP.world)
(PROTOCOL= TCP)
(Host= 172.16.1.1)
(Port= 1526)
)
)
STARTUP_WAIT_TIME_LISTENER = 0
CONNECT_TIMEOUT_LISTENER = 10
TRACE_LEVEL_LISTENER = ADMIN
SID_LIST_LISTENER =
(SID_LIST =
(SID_DESC =
(SID_NAME = VDR)
)
)
PASSWORDS_LISTENER = (oracle)

I am not very sure on these directives.

Pls advice.

Change the port to default port ie 1521 and then try.
