I hope this helps!

Oracle 8i
Important: If you are installing Oracle 8i on a Pentium 4 machine be sure to download the
bug fixes first.
These instructions were written for Personal Oracle 8.1.6, other versions may have different
screens but the input values will be the same. If you are installing on Windows 98, first install
Developer 6i, then install Oracle, all other operating systems install Oracle first. For a
detailed installation guide visit http://otn.oracle.com/docs/
1 Place the CD labeled Personal Oracle 8i into the CD Rom drive.
2 Select 'Next' at the 'Welcome' page
3 The next window is labeled 'File Locations' window. Accept the default for the 'Source'
which should read from the CD.
4 For the 'Destination' name type ‘OraHome81’. For the path type 'C:Oracleora81'. This
assumes that C is your hard drive. Select 'Next'.
5 The next window is labeled 'Available Products'. Accept the default 'Oracle 8i Personal
Edition'. Select 'Next'.
6 The next window is labeled 'Installation Types'. Accept the default labels 'Typical'.
7 The next window is labeled 'Database Identification'. Type 'oracle' for the global database
name and the SID. Select 'Next'.
8 The next window is labeled 'Summary' and lists the products that will be installed. Select
'Install', the install will take several minutes.
9 Installation successful----Select 'OK' and exit.
