Can export pass its backup directly to an import as the export is still executing.

Sure. If you are on UNIX based machine, use pipes to redirect the export dump file to a import process. Make sure you have some sleep "time" to allow the export process to write to the dump file before starting the import.

Some examples how to create and use pipes with the export/import are provided Here

Hope that helps,

I would like to know how to use an ODBC or 0040 connection to an Oracle database without Oracle running. I have done this with MSAcess database without access running. Also with foxpro I have been able to do this with ODBC.

Do you know or have a ODBC drives that can do this?
