I'm trying to start the Intelligent Agent (OracleOraHome92Agent).

I get the error:

Could not start the OracleOraHome92Agent service on the local computer. The service did not return an error. This could be an internal..blah blah blah.

I looked at agntsrvc.log and got:

-------------- [[OracleOraHome92Agent]] ------------
Sending initial service status..
Commandline is "D:oracleora92bindbsnmpwd.bat" -agent_name OracleOraHome92Agent
2. WAIT_OBJECT_0: Agent exited with retCode 0.
Agent failed to startup.
Check D:oracleora92networklogOracleOraHome92Agent.nohup for details
--------------
Looking at the bat file, I'm curious about the lines:

--------D:oracleora92bindbsnmpwd.bat---
rem RETVAL=55 indicates initialization failure
if "%RETVAL%" == "55" goto exitscript

-------

I need an W2k Guru.....

Thanks for the reply:
To answer your questions:

1) Where would I look to see if the machineNameHostnameportno changed? I did not change it purposly.

2)The last OracleOraHome92Agent.nohup entry is
-----------
Service name is OracleOraHome92Agent
nmiumini_initializeUM: Unable to initialize UQFailed while initializing user subsystem
Error initializing subsystems
Agent exited on 11/15/2002 5:11p with return value 55
Could not start agent. Initialization failure
Agent startup failed. Check D:oracleora92networklogOracleOraHome92Agent.nohup for details
--------
Thats why I said the '55' is curious?

3) How do I rebuild the Q files on W2k? I will do that.

Thx

Please check on the nmi.hostname parameter in the snmp_rw.ora.
When running the NSLOOKUP command on both the Agent and the OMS servers, they must return the name and the same
IP address for this hostname in order for the OMS's and Intelligent Agent to communicate and work properly.
and other possibility is DataGatherer Process might be flocking the same port ( you have 9ias too??) used by the 9i Agent.
for this try stopp gattherer and start the agent.
