When I import data with CONSTRAINTS=n then IMP generates errors "unrecognized commands" showing some garbage characters and broken pieces of table data.
When I set to CONSTRAINTS = Y then the problem disappears.
Dump file is created on UNIX (Ora 8.1.6)->gziped -> FTPed ->extracted with gzip on Win2K (Ora 8.1.7) and then imported.
I've played with gzip and it is out of suspects

Any thoughts?

can you post the exact error messages and the sequence in which it is originating?
and
are you FTP'ing the files with BIN option?

THE SAME PATTERN REPEATS FROM LOG TO LOG. SEEMS LIKE IT BREAKS DOWN IN THE SAME PLACE, GENERATES ERRORS, AND THEN GETS BACK TO NORMAL AGAIN UNTIL THE EOF.
ANY THOUGHTS, GENTLMEN?

Yes, of course, I did check it. I've mentioned it before that FTP is out of question. Nor zip utilities are envolved. I've tried to send across not zipped, too. Same problem persist.
