Basic Replication (using Oracle Standard 8i) supports only one master db at a time.

If that master db is taken offline, can another site be made the master temporarily?

So there would only ever be one master at a time, but the role of 'master' moves between sites. Is that possible?

Thanks,

Mark

Yes you can.

We recently upgraded the hardware for our master database and all we had to do was supply a new tnsnames.ora file to the snapshot site with the new host address.
