We are about to install a new CPU. we are going from a IBM 9672-R25(generation4) to an IBM Multiprise 3000 H30(gen 5). Currently we are not running ORACLE on the mainframe. I have installed Oraclee 8.1.7.51 and 9.0, but
have not used it for anything. Is anybody out there running any Oracle instances on a H30 box. How is/was performance? i am wondering if the box is large enough. It is approximately a 60 MIP box, and have there will not be many other applications on this box..if any. The database will be used for SAS/Access.

: We've one 60 MIPS box. It's a single powerful CPU processing 3 Oracle 7.3 instances (one production, one development and one test). One of the instances reaches 100% CPU when the heavy transactions are involved. According to the OS folks here, the single CPU needs tuning via WLM (work load management). You'll be better off if you consult the Oracle and the IBM for assistance.
