Hi Ramesh,

Nice Question Cool

See a basic Difference Between flexfield and Other Normal Fields is You can Configure Flexfield according to your requirement.
Text Field is a base.
Flexfield is Basically a functionality provided by Oracle to capture data which is not included in standard product.
There are 2 types of flexfield
1) Key Flexfield (KFF)
2) Descriptive Flexfield (DFF)

KFF is an inteligent Flexfield and is used in Accounting and Item Level Capturing the data. These are used in situation where Complex data is involved and indexing is important.
It is application dependant.

DFF are used to Capture the Data which is not supported by Standard Product.
It is Application Dependant and can be configured as required.
You can have more than one text field in DFF.
This gives you more room and flexibility to capture the data and fulfill the requirement.

Hope this will clarify your doubt.

If more clarification needed, then please specify what you want Cool

Thanks,
Vikram

Hi,

To capture Accounting Codes, this KFF is used.
This is an Intelligent KFF. It can capture the accounting codes which are complex.
If u r from financial background you should know this Laughing
Why it is called as intelligent coz, it will keep index of all the codes. So retrieval is easy and fast.
It can keep any complex combination of accounting codes.
We can tune it according to our requirement.
This makes the product more robust and stable.

Hope this clears

Thanks,
Vikram

Can anyone provide a step_by_step instruction on how to configure descriptive flex fields? I need to configure a free-form entry field that is not required.
