$FLEX$ is a way that Oracle references descriptive flex field values in its business application. For example, if you had a scenerio where the user had to specify a unique key to a foreign system (say as an addendum to a purchase order) and you only wanted to display detail information about that particular key reference, you could use the $FLEX$ terminology in your code when referencing that record. You can also do this with custom report parameters and value set definitions. $FLEX$, more simply, is a variable for a value referencing a particular key or other value.

I am not sure what you mean by "token reports", anyone else care to take a stab at that one?

Take care,
Steve
