Real-time apply is documented in Oracle 10g, and no mention of it in Oracle 9.2; however, the use of Standby Redo Logs IS mentioned in Oracle 9.2. My question is:

If I am using Standby Redo Logs (and LGWR on a Physical Standby Database), is Real-Time Apply an option?

My guess is that it is NOT (and relates directly to a question by a colleague about the statement "ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY DATABASE USING CURRENT LOGFILE", which probably does NOT work in DG 9.2).

"ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY DATABASE USING CURRENT LOGFILE",

is that necessary for realtime Dg??or can we use these commands as well?
•	SQL> Alter Database Recover Managed Standby Database;•	SQL> Alter Database Recover Managed Standby Database Disconnect;

Ya its confirmed that real time apply is not part of oracle 9i its introduced in oracle 10g.

Now here is a problem how we will be able to configure MAXIMUM AVAILABILITY mode in oracle 9i?

Sad

In 9i rel 2, Maximum Protection and Maximum Availability only ensure that the data is written to a Standby Database before it is applied on the Primary Database (not that it is applied on the Standby Database). Because there is no Real-Time Apply, the transactions are applied when the next log file is switched.

The difference is that the Standby data is not applied "Real Time".
