Sad Sad

Hello,

I have been trying to create an oracle database after installing oracle 10.1.0.2 on my solaris v 5.10 system.
During the database creation it gives an error and I am forced to abort..

The error is ORA-01041: internal error. hostdef extension does not exist.

I saw a solution that there are some unneccessary patches that hinder the database from being created. I would like to know these patches so I can uninstall them..

Please if anybody has a solution for me.. Help!!!!

It is a very generic error usually involved with your environment and accompanied by more errors / trace. Look into your aler_sid.log. Post relevant details.

Not sure what you are talking about. It is your machine. You should be knowing the installed patches. Try lsinventory?

Hey Mahesh,

Thank you for your response..
Please find below the contents of my alert_SID.log files.
I tried to create 2 different databases..
I am really new to oracle and need assistance..
And also I did not put any new patches but learnt that some of the preinstalled patches will not allow oracle 10.1.0.2 to work properly on Solaris 10..

The said is reported only on 10.1.0.2 to 10.1.0.5.
I myself never had any issues with all my recent 10gR2 (10.2.*) installs in Solaris (single and rac).
Try 10gR2?

Since you said not able to LOCATE, you have a login to metalink and have looked and just haven't found it?

- Log into https://metalink.oracle.com/
- Select "Document ID" in the "Quick Find" drop down.
- Paste "378258.1" into the text field
- Click on "go"

Hi Thomas,

I do not have a login to metalink.. I am not a frequent Oracle user. I am a Solaris system Administrator. I would be most grateful if you could assist...

Noone here can post the solution without violating his license agreement with Oracle.
Is this what you want?

Michel

You should check with your supervisor or with the company who is running the database if they have either a Metalink login or a support identifier in the contract or invoice from oracle, which then can than be used to create a Metalink login.
